Day 5: A rainy day in Pamplona.

It rained all day. All. Day. And I mean torrential downpours that could render surfaces muddy and slippery. I postponed starting my walk today while I waited for a break in the weather. I wandered around Pamplona for a while, getting a few things I needed (more sunscreen, more ibuprofen, a different phone charger than the one I had that needed a European adapter in order to use). Had a bite for lunch, and then wandered over to St. Mary’s Cathedral which was open to the public to explore, and the adjacent museum.

I’ll adjust my mileage, or something. Today was not a day to walk in the buckets of ick falling from the sky.

Apparently, the rain in Spain also falls on Pamplona.
St. Mary’s Cathedral. Dates back to the 1200s, and was built on an even older Roman site. In fact, there is an active archeological dig going on under and around the museum.

The high altar
The cloister. I had to hold myself back from acting out a scene from “The Sound of Music”.

An extra day of rest with some light walking to keep the legs going. This will end up paying dividends.
