Day 8: Estella to Los Arcos

It was a beautiful day on the Camino today! I was feeling energized after rest day yesterday. Today’s highlights included the Irache wine fountain and hiking with Camino friends. The road flattened out after an initial incline, and weather was overcast and cool until about 2:00 when the sun kicked into high gear. That seems to be the pattern most days. Dinner was amazing pizza and wine outside at the cute little plaza in the center of this town of 1,400.

A fun little iron worker/blacksmith stand along the way.
You had me at “wine fountain”.
9:00 in the morning. I limited myself to 1 scallop shell full of wine.
A perfect little place to stop for a cold drink in Azqueta.

It stays light here until 10:30. I got this shot of the church bell tower just before it got completely dark.

Beautiful photography! You look like you’re doing well. Having friends to hike with will make those kilometers go quicker. Keep on truckin’.
