Today was a little bit shorter mileage day, so I enjoyed having the afternoon to stretch, rest, and rehydrate. The original group of people that I started walking with on the first day are a little bit spread out right now, but it sounds like several of us will be in Los Arcos tomorrow, and are planning to meet for dinner.
The weather has finally turned cooler, at least temporarily. It even drizzled a little bit while I was walking today, which felt really great.
Those who know me well know that the last few years of my life have been really difficult. One of the reasons I embarked on this year‘s Camino was to try to process all of that, and to make some sense of it. I’m longing for some grand insights, but I realize that it may come in smaller increments instead. Especially during these first couple weeks of the Camino when one’s body is massively adjusting to the physical demands. Still, when I was a few kilometers from my destination today, I had this very real feeling that I’m not, nor ever am, alone. We may face difficult things, but we are not forsaken.
