Yesterday was a beautiful day spent walking partially through open fields, mostly wheat and sunflowers, and a lovely shaded path that is next to the canal like the day prior.

I arrived in mid-afternoon to Carrión de los Condes, which is a nice medium sized town and ideal for a rest day. I immediately found the laundromat, the ATM and the farmacia (I’m single handedly keeping the ibuprofen industry in business). Then, in the evening, the nuns from the local convent were doing a sing-along/group sharing at one of the albergues, and it was absolutely lovely. This was followed by a Mass and pilgrim’s blessing at Iglesia de Santa Maria del Camino.

It was a terrific rest day: I slept late, visited 2 museums, got a massage (no small feat to work 200+ miles of knots out of my poor feet and legs), and took a nap.

Tomorrow starts a 5 day, 60 mile push to get to León, which is the next major city on the Camino.
