Day 9: Azqueta to Los Arcos

I’m happy to be staying tonight in one of my very favorite little Camino towns called Los Arcos. It’s the perfect size, everything is a couple minute walk. It’s got what many Spanish towns have, which is a central plaza or square. This one happens to be situated right next to the Iglesia of Santa Maria. This lends itself to great conversation with groups of people. It’s community building at its finest. So I had a delightful meal of pizza and tinto de verano….that’s the red wine/lemon soda blend that is the unofficial summer drink here….with several other people, some of whom I met way back at Orisson.

This is Gordito (which means “little fat one”). He was the cat that lives where I stayed last night.
Coming into the hilltop village of Villamayor de Monjardin
Monjardin literally means “mountain garden”, and there are beautiful flowers everywhere here.
Dinner in the plaza!
